house in Cheung Hing Street.I was employed there continously
for 3 years previous to the 19th. June last. That is to say I
was always employed there during those years when gambling
was being carried on at No.1 Cheung Hing Street. My duties at
the gambling house were to act as a watchman. I was also em-
ployed to pay hush money to the Indian Police.
I know the Indian present. I do not know his
name. He was formerly a Policeman .His number when he was a
Policeman was 689.I have known him for about 2 or 3 years. I
first came to know him because he used to be on patrol duty
in and about Cheung Hing Street. He used to drive away the
people who were standing about the door of the gambling house.
My master told me to give him money. While he was a Constable I
paid him on behalf of my master $1 a day for the two gambling
houses. One gambling house was in Cheung Hfg Street and the
other in Wa Lane. When he became a Sergeant I know he was paid
85 cents a day for each of the two houses. I did not pay him
myself after he became a Sergeant. I know that he got 85 cents
a day when a Sergeant because my fokies told me.
I cannot remember how often I paid hush money
to him. I paid him as a Constable whenever he was on duty
about the gambling house.
I remember that he was made a Sergeant some
time last year. I think it was in the beginning of last year.
